Beaches in Mauritius stand completely desolated, with a strict lockdown currently in force in Mauritius since early March 2021. The Quarantine Act in force prohibits people from going to the beach. Mauritius remains in confinement until 30 April 2021 as the authorities battle with the surge in the number of Covid-9 cases, though the situation is under control. The government has been swift in containing the outbreak by designating no-go ‘Red zones’ in the centre of the island where the number of cases has been fast multiplying. There has unfortunately been five deaths during this second wave, with the number of cases at 566. The good news is that 235 persons have already recovered.
Ki News brings to its readers photos of Pereybere, a major hotspot in the north of Mauritius, as well as La Cuvette. The beaches are all empty, except for one policeman on duty.
