L’arrivée des immigrants indiens commémorée


Shrimati Anandiben Patel, la gouverneure de l’Etat du Madhya Pradesh, en Inde, était l’invitée d’honneur des célébrations du samedi 2 novembre marquant le 185e anniversaire de l’arrivée des travailleurs engagés à Maurice.

Lors de la cérémonie à l’Aapravasi Ghat à Port Louis, le premier ministre sortant Pravind Kumar Jugnauth a rappelé que le 2 novembre 1834, le bateau The Atlas a transporté les premiers migrants indiens à Maurice.
Smt Anandiben Patel a quant à elle déclaré que l’Aapravasi Ghat est un mémorial qui témoigne du lien solide entre le peuple indien et le peuple mauricien.
L’honorable Anandiben Patel a aussi participé à une session d’interaction avec la communauté indienne vivant à Maurice au centre Indira Gandhi à Phoenix.
